Creating a Network Marketing sales funnel is crucial for building your MLM business online. Generating MLM leads and MLM sales can easily be done if you have a proper sales funnel set up.

A good sales funnel will allow you to attract prospects through Social Media outlets, and then move them through a sales funnel that will eventually end up at an offer or sale. It is very important that you understand this process.

Many Network Marketers and MLM business builders try to short cut the process, usually because they don’t know the steps of a proper sales funnel. Typically, they post links to their page or products all over Social Media and then expect the prospect to buy from them right away. This is NOT the way to get leads and sales for your business!

Handling objections can be a tricky thing if you have not learned how to effectively answer them. If you have encountered objections from prospects when looking to sponsor reps into your Home Business opportunity, you may have felt stumped and at a loss for words, which can be very frustrating! One of the objections that I struggled with early on in my Home Business career was the “I want to think about it” objection. It used to stop me right in my tracks because if I said anything other than, “okay,” I felt like I was being pushy or coming across like a pushy salesman.

I would say things like, “what do you need to think about?” or “do you need to think about making money or saving money?” None of these rebuttals worked because they would just answer again that they needed to think about it!

The Right Question To Ask

I’ve been getting this question a lot recently from Entrepreneurs in the Network Marketing industry and Home Business industry. That question is, “After I finish showing my business presentation, or they see the business presentation, what is it that I should say to find out if they liked it or to start the closing process?”

This is a great question and frankly, it is not taught enough to new people in Network Marketing. Most business owners end their presentation and then they proceed to continue talking and selling. As you may have experienced, (and I did too) this is not effective and doesn’t work!

If you want to get better at sponsoring more reps into your business, I recommend asking a very simple question. It is so simple that you will probably say to your self, “Man, why didn’t I think of that?!” The right question to ask does not require skill at all! In fact, it is a question meant to get feedback and put your prospect in the “right frame of mind.” Watch this short video below where I use examples of what to do and what not to do and share with you The Right Question To Ask!

So you got into business to make money right? We all did. So why am I saying that it is important for you to be a buyer when your goal is to sell as much product, business tools, training materials, etc to make money?

Who is Your Target Audience in Network Marketing?

Every business and company has a target audience. If you are watching TV and stick around to see the commercials, virtually every one of them is geared toward a particular audience. It could be a safer vehicle for the young family that has a new born baby, to the hip I-Phone cases for teenagers, to the newest computer or technology for the veteran sales pro. The commercials are all designed to “target” the audience or market who is most likely to need, want, or purchase their products and services

So what about your Network Marketing business? Do you have a “target” audience that needs, wants, or desires your products or opportunity? Before you answer that question, I want to give you a very valuable hint that took me years to learn. Hint: It is not EVERYBODY! When my wife and I started our business, we were told to talk to everyone within a 3 foot radius about our opportunity. It did work to some extent, but do you want to walk around everyday hunting, or I mean, talking to everyone that you lay eyes on? My guess is probably not! It wasn’t until later that I learned that you can prospect everyone, but market to your target audience; speak their language and understand the issues that keep them up at night, and then show them how to solve their issue. That is a key tip right there! If you try to market to everyone, you will get no one!

6th grade sales

If a 6th Grader can do it, you can too!!

I normally don’t watch the news because it is so negative. But the other day I happened to flip to a morning news segment that was interviewing a 6th grader who broke the record for the amount of Girl Scout cookie boxes sold. She sold 21,000 boxes of cookies! The fact that she sold that many cookies is impressive, but what really caught my attention was HOW she did it. In a matter of 5 minutes, she gave everyone that had ears to hear and eyes to see how to be successful in anything and hit your goal- and she is only in 6th grade! 

Here is what she said that she did to set the record…

1. She set a goal and wrote it down- If you don’t know where you are going, you won’t know how to get there. Without goals there is no direction, and there is no focus. When you write your goals down, you can then focus all of the proper activities to hit them. Goal setting is like navigating a road map, you can see the route and stops along the way. The first key to any success is to have clear, succinct, written down goals.

2. She worked hard- This young girl said that she would sell for 10, 11, or sometimes even 12 hours a day on the weekends and for 7 hours a day after she got out of school. You see, we all have 24 hours in a day and she used most of them and used them wisely. This is something that all of us can take note of and be better with our time like she did. Talk about dedication, while most kids her age were playing outside or in front of video games, this young lady was out chasing her goal. It does take sacrifices to hit your goals, this includes time, hard work, and effort. You must decide if you are willing to do what it takes to hit your goals and then make it happen!

3. She spoke to everyone that she saw- This was my favorite part of the whole story. Whenever she came in contact with someone, she asked them for the sale without hesitation. She didn’t sit back and worry about what they would say or whether or not they would buy. She just knew that if she asked everyone, then someone would buy. The way she put it was that she just did not take “No” personally. I love this!! How many of us have been held back from succeeding or hitting our goals because we were worried about what others would say and took “No” as personal attack on us?

This young girl’s story should serve as an example that we are unstoppable when we have our goals clearly defined and written down, are willing to work hard and sacrifice short term, and learn to not take a “No” personally. These are fundamental success principles that this 6th grader used to accomplish her goals. If a 6th grader can do it, you can too!!

Why Network Marketing Makes Sense!

Network Marketing has a long, storied history that dates back to the 1950’s. Over the years it has gotten both good and bad publicity. Recently, however, many people are beginning to understand how Network Marketing can be a very simple and low risk way to make money.

Network Marketing can basically be defined as a company that sells goods or services or both who has distributors that sell the product to the market place via word of mouth. This cuts down the advertising expense to the company and allows the distributor to make the profits that the company would normally use on advertising. The second component to Network Marketing is the ability to add other distributors into their network who do the same thing. When other distributors sell a product, everyone in that network gets a small percentage of the profits. Does this sound familiar? McDonald’s uses the same concept. When Ray Kroc started with McDonald’s, he only had two stores. Understanding the law of duplication, Ray began offering an opportunity to entrepreneurs to purchase a store and he would provide all of the training and supplies. In exchange, the owner of the store was able to keep 98% of the earnings and gave Ray the additional 2%. This was a great deal for both parties involved. The store owner made a lot of money and as more and more stores opened up, Ray made a lot of money. Would your like to have 2% of a million dollars duplicated over and over? That is the essence of Network Marketing. Now that you have an understanding of how Network Marketing works, let’s discuss why it makes sense for the average individual to use it as a way to make money. It is important to understand that Network Marketing is  not for everybody. Then again, what is?

There are tons of Network Marketing companies out there that have many different products. From electronics to phone services to health/consumables and insurance, and many more. It is based on the individual’s preferred product that will help to determine which opportunity is best.

Generally speaking, you are able to purchase products from the company and make money doing it. How neat is it to be able to buy things that you are going to buy anyway and make money back? Think of it as frequent flyer miles that airlines offer. When was the last time that a major supermarket or store in your area actually sent you a check based on a percentage of the products that you had to buy already? Very cool concept, wouldn’t you say? In addition to purchasing your own products, you are now able to sell the products that other people are also already purchasing and using. This allows you to make a profit just like the major stores do that you have been spending your hard earned money with. There is no limit to how much you can sell or earn as it is all word of mouth selling- the best way! Think about the last time that you bought a shirt or a pair of shoes and got complimented. Most likely the person asked you where you bought the shirt or shoes and went to the same store and purchased the shirt, shoes, or even some other clothing. Did the store send you a referral check for the money the new customer spent? Can you see how this works? You put yourself in a position to be able to profit from things that you do already on a daily basis.

Finally, in Network Marketing you are able to offer the same opportunity that you have to others. Notice the word that I used- “offer.” You don’t sell people on getting in business or joining a Network Marketing opportunity, you ID-100105995simply offer it to them as a way to make money. Remember that I said Network Marketing is not for everybody? Some people that you offer the opportunity to are not in a place in their lives where they are looking to create additional income. Maybe they just got a promotion at work or are finishing up a Doctorate degree. Whatever the case may be, they just are not interested in the opportunity. So what? There are millions of other people all over the world that are looking for an opportunity to make money. You just have to sift through people to find the ones
that are serious about making more money. I like to use the example of a waiter or waitress and ketchup. You and another person are at a restaurant and just ordered a burger and fries. The waiter or waitress asks the both of you if you would like some ketchup with your burger and fries. You say no because you don’t like ketchup. Do you think the waiter or waitress takes it personal that you don’t want ketchup? No. They simply ask your friend if they want ketchup and they say yes. It is as simple as that! We all have a circle of influence that would be open to creating some additional money, you just have to ask them.

It is with sincere hope that this article has cleared up any misconceptions or given you a good frame of reference as to what Network Marketing is. It does not matter your educational level, age, or type of job or career that you have. Anyone can use Network Marketing to achieve their financial goals. All that matters for anyone considering a Network Marketing opportunity is that you have a goal in mind and that you are willing to be persistent, work hard in your own business, and can handle rejection.

Just as in anything, there are no guarantees, and please understand that Network Marketing is not a “get rich quick scheme.” Legitimate results requires legitimate effort.

Ways to Overcome the Fear of Rejection

How many times as a child did you hear the word “no”? I am guessing that it was hundreds if not thousands of times. When you were at the store and asked your mom for that sleek red Matchbox car or the newest Barbie doll you constantly heard no, no, no! But as a young child, you did not see the word  no as a roadblock,  but instead you would keep on asking until you got the one word that we wanted to hear…”yes”

So why is it now that you are all grown up you fear hearing the word no? What changed from when you were young and essentially ignored the no’s and continued to ask questions until you got the yes that you were searching for?

I am reminded of a great example of this. As I was reading a book at a coffee shop, a young girl of about the age of five was selling some candy for a fund-raiser. I observed as she approached each “stranger” with enthusiasm and asked if they would like to buy some candy. She got no after no but continued to walk to each table as if it were the first time asking the question. How was she able to do this at the age of five, yet each of us from 25, 35, 45, and above could never think of doing such a thing?

The reason is that the little girl did not care or worry about what other people thought about her! Think about that for a moment. Why is it that you were afraid of making that sales call to the CEO of the client that you were trying to get business from? Or why do so many people not like to speak in front of others and seem to forget their names when speaking publicly? It’s simple: you care about what others think about you and you do not want to look like a fool to them. We all tend to try to compare the good qualities of others with the not so good qualities of ourselves.

So how do you overcome that fear of worrying about what others think about you and  raise your self-image?

1. Start a self development program of reading books that help you to understand that you are a one of a kind, special person- there is no other you out there! Some great titles that helped me are, What to Say When you Talk To Yourself by Shad Helmstetter and  The greatest Miracle in the World by Og Mandino.

2. The “mirror technique”- When I first did this I thought it was real crazy and weird. What you do is look at the person in the mirror (you) and start to say great things about yourself. Things like: “you are a winner”, “you are successful”, “you are going places”, etc. There is something special that happens when you can look yourself in your eyes and speak positive!

3. Look at rejection not as a failure, but as a step closer to success! In the book Go for No pointed out that most people view rejection as:

Failure <—–You—–>Success

You either fail or succeed.

But if your view Failure as a passing through point, it is easy to accept because you know you are closer to succeeding and don’t worry what others think. It looks like this:

You—–>Failure—–>Success!! You literally fail your way to success.

So how do you overcome your fear of rejection? Raise your self-image and understand that rejection is a stepping stone for success. If you use the techniques and resources that I have provided to you, watch as you move forward towards your goals and dreams with a pep in your step!
